US approves F-16 fighter jet sale to Turkey: State Department

The United States has authorized the sale of dozens of new F-16s.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the State Department has agreed to sell 40 new fighter aircraft to Turkey.

Along with the new aircraft, the country will make upgrades to 79 of its existing fleet.

The cost is estimated to be valued at up to $23B.
